“Made in Korea” Set to Bring Hyun Bin and Jung Woo-sung Together in 2025

“Made in Korea,” an eagerly anticipated crime series, will feature two of South Korea’s biggest male stars, Hyun Bin and Jung Woo-sung, in a high-stakes battle of wits and ambition. Scheduled to premiere exclusively on Disney+ in 2025, this series promises to deliver a gripping narrative set against the backdrop of the turbulent 1970s,

“Made in Korea” is a crime thriller that explores the intense rivalry between Kitae, portrayed by Hyun Bin (“Crash Landing on You,” “Confidential Assignment”), and Geonyoung, played by Jung Woo-sung (“12.12: The Day,” “Hunt”). Kitae is driven by a relentless pursuit of wealth and power, while Geonyoung is a steadfast prosecutor determined to thwart his ambitions. Their clash becomes central to a significant historical event that will irrevocably alter their lives.

Production is handled by Hive Media Corp., known for its work on “Inside Men” and “The Man Standing Next.”

Director’s Debut and Upcoming Projects

This will be Woo Min-ho‘s first foray into television direction, following his acclaimed work in film. His upcoming project, “Harbin,” a politically-themed action thriller, will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival before its Korean release on September 8.

Disney+ Expansion

Disney+ continues to bolster its Korean content library, with ten shows released so far in 2024. Upcoming releases for 2025 include:

  • “The Tyrant”
  • “Unmasked”
  • “Seoul Busters”
  • “Light Shop”
  • “Gangnam B-Side” (to premiere at the Busan Film Festival)

Additionally, Disney+ will also release “Knock-Off,” featuring Kim Soohyun (“My Love from The Star”) and Cho Boah (“Tale of the Nine Tailed”), which delves into the world of counterfeit goods and the fallout from the 1997 Asian financial crisis.

“Made in Korea” is set to be a standout addition to Disney+’s growing slate of Korean dramas, offering a compelling mix of historical intrigue and intense personal conflict.
